Waterproofing will cost us thousands. It does not come cheap. Can I skip waterproofing my house?
Odds are these thoughts have crossed our minds. Waterproofing, after all, is a step that cannot be readily seen as one enters a house. Spending thousands on it may look expensive. What we will see though, is that after the rainy season, not-waterproofing your house will be more expensive.
The common scenario usually includes damage to walls or ceilings.
Water seepage does not only cause your property to be of lesser value, but it also poses different risks such as:
Moisture trapped on your walls or ceilings may cause the formation of molds and mildew which is risky for your health.
Metal beams and columns when exposed to water for a long time may cause rusting and thus affect their integrity. Rebuilding the structural integrity of your house may cost more than the waterproofing itself.
Investing in high-quality finishings may be worthless if they will just damaged by water.
As always, prevention is better than cure. Accomplishing waterproofing early on helps you avoid pricey repairs and health hazards. Waterproofing your house now is still cheaper than paying the price of water damages.
To avoid these, make sure you do it now and you do it right.
Hire professionals. Because not everyone is an expert.
